American Dream Scholarship Rules

1. Applicants must be immigrants or children of immigrants living in Fairfield County.

2. Applicants pursuing a college or university education must be seniors in high school at the time of application.

3. Applicants pursuing technical, trade, or vocational education may apply even if they are no longer in high school.

4. Self-nominations and third-party nominations are accepted. Nominations may be submitted by teachers, school counselors or advisors, employers, coworkers, clergy members, social workers, friends, or family members.

5. The selection panel will review only one application for each participant.

6. The selection panel will consist of members of the TNADF Board of Directors.

7. Scholarship funds will not be paid directly to the recipient. Payment will be issued directly to the recipient’s accredited educational institution after TNADF receives:

   • A letter of acceptance or proof of enrollment; and

   • The information and documentation required to issue payment to the institution.

8. Recipients must claim their scholarship within one year of the date on which the scholarship is awarded. To claim the scholarship, the recipient must provide all required acceptance, enrollment, and payment documentation to TNADF before the one-year deadline.

9. If a recipient does not provide the required documentation within one year, the scholarship will expire. The funds will then be awarded to another eligible student selected by TNADF. Expired scholarship funds will not be paid directly to the original recipient.

10. Each scholarship winner will receive two complimentary tickets to the American Dream Awards Gala. Attendance at the Gala is mandatory to receive the scholarship.
